The Mohawk Indians of Canada are looking to expand their already enormous
presence in the online casino gambling industry through their efforts to claim
stake in an online gaming company readying itself to float on the Alternative
Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange.
Continent 8 Technologies PLC is the Isle of Man based company seeking the
flotation, which should be issued in the coming weeks. Continent 8 is
responsible for providing its servers to online casinos and internet poker rooms
who operate out of Isle of Man - where online gambling is legally regulated.
Considering the company has done very well for itself and that the Mohawks run
the same type of online gaming operations out of Kahnawake, a stake in the
company is being openly welcomed by many in the online casino gambling community
and the tribe itself.
The Kahnawake Gaming Commission is one of the foremost online gambling
regulators who have and continue to issue a large amount of online gaming
licenses to online casino operators and eGaming companies processing real-money
stakes on the internet. The Kahnawake Economic Development Commission is
spearheading the proposal, which seeks to acquire a 40% stake in Continent 8
Technologies. The Commission owns Mohawk Internet Technologies, who like
Continent 8, operate several gaming servers who power and protect several online
casinos licensed through the Gaming Commission.
The Grand Chief of the Mohawk tribe, Michael Delisle, said the Kahnawake
commission fully supports the IPO, and that it would be essential to
economically developing the Mohawk community. As for LSO investors, they
are very pleased that more online gambling companies are seeking flotation's,
and that the multi-billion dollar online casino industry continues to grow and
draw more revenue.
