One of the largest
casinos in the world and most frequented gambling resort in the eastern United
States, Mohegan Sun has announced yet another major development to their vast
selection of slot machines. The casino announced in a press release this week
they are finished installing twenty slot machines that accept half-cent stakes.
They also made it known they plan to install an additional twenty machines over
the course of the next fourteen days.
In the casino gambling
world, whether on line or off line, these machines are the first of their kind.
Half-cent slots cannot be found anywhere else in the U.S. - not even in Las
Vegas or Atlantic City. Mohegan Sun may not be larger than their Connecticut tribal casino
competitor, Foxwoods; However, they are certainly the only casino with half-cent
slot machines. And with the completion of their Project Horizon resort
expansion, Mohegan Sun will certainly be considered one of the finest gambling
destinations in the world.
Project Horizon is a
$740 million expansion to Mohegan Sun's already expansive resort, and will
feature a 1,000 room hotel tower offering irect lobby access to the House of
Blues, where top performing acts will be booked to entertain visitors on a year
round basis. The expansion will also include a 115,000 square foot retail and
dining complex and a 64,000 square foot gaming space called Casino of the Wind.
This space will complement Mohegan Sun's existing Casino of the Earth and Casino
of the Sky.
All in all, when
Project Horizon is expectedly completed in 2010, it will be home to 7,600 slot
machines, all of which will be equipped with
coinless slots technology. In fact,
Mohegan Sun management just announced in February of this year that beginning
May 1, 2007, all of their current 6,200 slots will be upgraded to coinless
technology that will allow players to use paper tickets to exchange and cash out
their credits.
