Bluff Europe Magazine and World
Poker Tour are teaming up to host the first ever "Poker in the Park". Taking
place in the heart of London at Leicester Square on July 6, 2007 (12-4 p.m), the event is
to commemorate Bluff Magazine's crowning of London as Europe's #1 Poker City.
The whole idea for the event (besides bringing publicity and attention to
Bluff Magazine and the World Poker Tour), is to offer an afternoon of free
poker tournaments to anyone over the age of eighteen.
All of the tournaments are for
fun - meaning no money will be staked - and are open to anyone over eighteen
years of age. Some of the tournaments will be for people who have never played
before, while others will simply be in the name of friendly competition. A great
opportunity to learn the game of poker hands-on or to brush up on one's
skills, the event certainly promises to be fun and social.
The first 1,000 visitors will
be given World Poker Tour gift packages, which one can only guess will be
chalk full of World Poker Tour propaganda and perhaps a deck of WPT/Bluff
branded cards. Famed actress and poker player Mimi Rogers, who happens to sit
on the World Poker Tour Board, is also promised to be in attendance and
competing at the tables.
WPT founder and CEO, Steve
Lipscomb, said he is honored that the World Poker Tour has helped make poker
as popular as it is in London. Bluff Europe Editor in Chief, Michael Caselli
said a plaque will be given to the Mayor of London for his part in helping to
foster the poker community in London. Caselli said he is pleased to see that
poker is now being regarded as a game of skill, sport and intellect, rather
than one of luck and blind chance.
