The Safe and Secure Internet Gambling Initiative (SSIG) (safeandsecureig.org) has announced an official endorsement from the highly esteemed Remote Gambling Association (RGA).  SSIG is a well organized grass roots effort to garner support for the Internet Gambling Regulation Enforcement Act, recently penned by Congressman and House Financial Services Committee Chairman, Barney Frank. So far, the SSIG has done a phenomenal job unifying the collective voice of U.S. online gamblers who feel their constitutional rights have been breached by the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.

Jeffrey Sandman - a spokesperson for the SSIG - said the endorsement by the RGA is indicative of the importance to mobilize online gamblers in support of the regulation of online casinos and internet betting. It is also indicative of the tremendous progress the SSIG is making in this regard. The SSIG website is now serving as a landing page for U.S. bettors who would like to tell their elected members of Congress to regulate the industry and support the Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act.

The message the SSIG is getting out is this: Only when members of Congress become informed that online betting is an important issue for their constituents, will Congress take charge in supporting the legislation. Furthermore, most members of Congress are not even aware of the advanced technology used for preventing fraud, organized crime and underage/problem gambling, which is available and currently being put to efficient use in regulated jurisdictions like the U.K. U.S. politicians essentially need to become more aware, which is a charge the SSIG has valiantly taken up.

RGA Chief Executive, Clive Hawkswood, who recently testified at the first House Financial Services Committe hearing regarding Congressman Frank's legislation, said the RGA is delighted to endorse the SSIG's mission to establish online gambling regulation in the U.S., and thereby offer the due protection that all online gamblers should rightfully be entitled to. The SSIG could not have hoped for a better endorsement. The Remote Gambling Association, which represents a collective of the largest and most respected online gambling sites in the UK, Europe and other regulated areas - currently has a membership roster of thirty-six online gambling companies, including Microgaming Software.
