Pennsylvania Gaming Board Approves Casino Slots Licenses

Online Casino Conditions Staff
June 29, 2006

There are plenty of updates regarding the State of Pennsylvania's casino gambling industry to report.  The most newsworthy has been the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board's decision to unanimously approve regulations on slot machines, which specifically pertains to the manufacturers and suppliers of the machines themselves.  In conjunction with this approval, the Gaming Board also approved three licenses for companies seeking to supply slot machines to the blossoming casino gambling industry taking place in the Commonwealth.

According to Act 71, all suppliers and manufacturers of casino slot machines must be licensed for at least ninety days before the Gaming Board will approve licenses for operating the very same slot machines.  According to Gaming Board Chairman, Tad Decker, the unanimous approval of Act 71 is in keeping with the goals of the Gaming Board to begin issuing the first Category 1 operators licenses, scheduled for September of this year.  Once the operator licenses are approved, it is nothing but "up" for the Pennsylvania gambling industry.

Several casino operators are competing for one of the several licenses forewarned for issuance.  With several large-scale casinos on the drawing board - some of which rival the best Las Vegas casino resorts - most people are expecting Pennsylvania to become another hub for the U.S. brick 'n mortar casino industry.  Although not nearly as concentrated as places like Atlantic City and Las Vegas, the Commonwealth is planning to offer its fair share of casinos within state borders.

As for the suppliers of the slot machines, twelve different licenses were also approved by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.  As such, all of the licensee's are bound to the conditions and rules set by the Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act. The motion to do so marks a major achievement for Pennsylvania's gambling legislators and promoters.  With as many slot machines that are being permitted to be up and running across the state, gambling revenue and taxes will be quite favorable.
