MGM Mirage has issued a press release detailing the
extensive enhancement project currently taking place at their famous Luxor
casino resort. Currently in Phase I of the two-phase project, several exciting
new amenities are on tap to be offered in the Fall of 2007, with all new
projects scheduled for completion by the end of Summer 2008. Phase II will begin
immediately thereafter, and will focus on making changes to the resorts
signature atrium and galleria, including a newly branded coffee shop.
There are eleven different projects making up Phase
I of Luxor's facelift, all of which have nothing to do with casino amenities.
Rather, the Luxor is aiming to be just as well known for its service and
amenities as it is for its famous pyramidal structure and exterior. Phase I then
is entirely focused on dining, entertainment and nightlife amenities within the
resort. The first of these, Aurora Lounge, has already opened to a positive
reception. Open 24 hours a day, Aurora Lounge holds 157 seats and offers
tableside drink service amidst a spectacular landscape of the Northern Lights.
Next on the list is the highly anticipated LAX
Nightclub and Noir Bar - both of which will be opened on Labor Day (September
3rd). LAX Nightclub, which is managed by the PURE group, is already on the
A-list of Hollywood club-goers, and will likewise hold court with celebrities
and deep pocketed partiers at the Luxor. Also managed by the creators of PURE
Nightclub is the Noir Bar, which will offer a private outside entrance and will
only be open for what PURE deems high-end and elite clientele. Apparently, the
Luxor is not concerned with coming off as being too hoity-toity, which LAX and
Noir Bar certainly exude.
Other Phase I enhancements at the Luxor Casino
Resort include the American bistro themed restaurant, "Company" (also from the
Pure Management Group), which will consume 10,000 square feet of floor space and
feature a fireside, Aspen-wooded lounge. Flight Bar, CatHouse restaurant and
lounge, Luxor Steak House, and the Luquidity waterscape and lounge will all open
in the Fall of 2007. A casino floor facelift will be completed in May of 2008,
followed by the debut of the new Cirque du Soleil show featuring the illusionist
work of Criss Angel - a perfect capper to a reinvented Luxor.
