MGM Mirage to Upgrade NEC Telephony Systems at two Casinos

Amidst all of the expansions the MGM Mirage is doing these days, the gaming company has decided to upgrade IP telecommunications systems at their Luxor and Excalibur casino resorts. Calling upon their long-time data communications specialist, NEC Unified Solutions Inc., MGM is seeking to give the Luxor's guest services and employee workflow a boost in communications with new IP telephony applications. NEC, who has partnered with MGM Mirage for some 20+ years, says they will gladly be working on customized communications solutions for the casino gaming giant.

Issuing a press release to announce the extended partnership, NEC President, Jeff Kane stated that making improvements within the guest services division is a top priority of any company doing business in the hospitality field. One of the key components in giving companies an advantage in this area is with technological resources - something which NEC knows all about. In other words, the telephone system can make a big difference in how customer relations are executed.

Both the Luxor and Exalibur casino resorts, which are already well known for their high levels of service, will be getting an upgrade to NEC's Univerge Neax 2400 IPX. Being an IP platform upgrade, rather than an entire haul over, a smooth network transition is expected. When all is said and done, casino employees and guests will both be able to take advantage of expanded voicemail options, multiple wake-up call options, integrated reservation support and call distribution.

The decision to upgrade to a new telephony system comes at a good time for the Excalibur and Luxor, which both have some serious renovations planned in the near future. The Luxor is already in Phase I of its broad, multi-phase enhancement, which will bring high-end clubs, lounges and a new Cirque show to the famed Pyramid Casino on the Strip.
