Online Casinos and Poker Revenue Sky High for PlayTech

Online Casino Conditions Staff
July 29, 2006

Online casino software manufacturers are continuing to lay the foundation of the online gambling industry as indicated, once again, by the strong profit margins generated by the leading software developers themselves.  PlayTech is one of the most popular and online casino software brands currently on the market (along with MicroGaming, CryptoLogic and Boss Media). The company continues to lead the way in new online gambling technology, evolving back-end software solutions, and personalized customer service.  Now, near the closing of the second quarter, PlayTech has reported their revenue totals are looking very good.

Revenue growth is reported to be up 133% compared to the second quarter of 2005.  Compared to the first quarter of the current year, revenue is up 22% to an impressive $25.4 million.  The first quarter for 2006 also saw a major jump from the same time period last year, reflecting a 121% increase in revenue primarily resulting from online casino royalties.

Regarding PlayTech's impressive platform of online poker software, revenue generated from internet poker betting grew over 700% from the second quarter of 2005.  Coming in at $2.7 million, the company still has a long way to go to catch the likes of Party Gaming.  However, growth in the online poker industry continues to increase at a staggering rate, thus suggesting that Party Gaming will be losing some of its monopolistic grip.

Chief Executive Officer of Playtech, Avigur Zmora, commented in a press release that his company is looking forward to the second half of 2006.  Everything is manifesting according to developmental plans, especially geographical diversification, which has been one of the contributing factors to the 2006 fiscal rise as of yet.  Zmora also made it clear that second quarter results are traditionally slow, thus further testifying to the growth of the online gambling industry and Playtech online casinos.  Now with forty-two casino licensees operating some 137 online gambling sites with the latest software features such as mobile gambling and video betting, all would agree that Playtech is undeniably on top of their game.
