Casino News Article of the Month: Underage
Online Casino Gambler Draws Attention
Following the recent case in which a young
Scottish boy gambled away a large amount of
his parent's savings, a Scottish member of
parliament - MP Mike Weir, Angus - is speaking
out about imposing deposit limits on all
online casino gamblers. Weir is
specifically suggesting that online poker
rooms and casinos limit all depositing bettors
to GBP 1,000 per week, as well limiting one
credit card per player. Although Weir's
intentions are good, APACS and PartyGaming.com
both object to the idea of deposit limits.
According to them, the best way to help
underage and problem gamblers is to treat each
individual's addiction. This, however,
does not address the issue of preventing
underage online casino gamblers from doing
what recently happened in Scotland. UK
gambling regulators, such as eCOGRA and the
newly appointed online casino and gambling
site regulatory body, is already taking into
account the reality of underage bettors, and
is making it one of their foremost priorities
in the implementation of the UK Gambling Act.
