First Mobile Gaming Casino Branded
by UK Television CompanyGreat Britain
is making big strides in bringing mobile gaming to
gamblers. Being called the first sole mobile
casino that is being marketed by a television
broadcaster, the mobile games are available for
download through a subscription to Sky TV.
The company responsible for the innovation is TV
Commerce, which says they will be spending £100,000
to advertise the new service. According to a
TV Commerce spokesperson, the games will be heavily
advertised via the television and marketing
databases from September through December '05.
Downloads are free, consisting of several games
designed solely for mobile phones, including the
Fortune Teller fruit machine and numerous branded
slot machines, developed by Probability Game
Corporation. Included in the service will be a daily
horoscope and other entertaining tidbits.
Once users download the games onto their
handsets, they will be required to prove their age
through age verification protocols, which can
largely be attributed to the new guidelines of the
UK Gambling Bill.
With the current state of remote gaming, the
mobile industry is looking very promising. It
has been very successful in Asia and in Europe up
until now, and is expected to double in growth over
the next few years. TV Commerce is expecting
sizable revenue to flow in before the close of
fiscal year 2005.
