The most popular lottery game in America, PowerBall, is continuing to set record numbers.  In a tabulation of the lottery's current figures, PowerBall has generated over $600 million to be used for needed state governmental projects, which was pulled from a total ticket sales amount exceeding $2 billion in 2005 alone.

The game is played by selecting a combination of 6 numbers and an optional multiplier number for an additional fee of $1.  Choosing five numbers produces large jackpots, while the bonus multiplier doubles all earnings.  The biweekly jackpots usually generate over $10 million each time, with rollovers taking place when no jackpot is won.  Even with no jackpot winners, the game usually awards over $2 million in accumulated cash prizes to smaller winners.

The most current series of rollovers has generated as estimated jackpot of $46 million with a $26 million cash option.  Leading up to this drawing, players have still won millions.  From the last drawing, eight players won $100,000 each by correctly picking five numbers, while another player won $200,000 by correctly picking the bonus multiplier number.  Approximately twenty players won $5,000 each, by picking four correct numbers - With one player receiving $10,000 for picking the right Power Play bonus multiplier.  Overall, close to 340,000 players won a portion of $2.8 million in winnings for the last drawing.
