Playtech has long been known as a leading provider
of online casino software and eGaming applications. Recently, Playtech has been
building a bridge into the international land-based gambling industry. On the
heels of several landmark deals securing their place within the large betting
terminal industry in China, Playtech has announced a deal that will surely give
them a strong presence in the off-line and online Latin American gambling
industries.
Playtech's subsidiary company, Videobet, will now
be working with the largest casino video slot operator in Mexico -
Entretenimiento de Mexico (EMex) - via a three-year licensing partnership
granting EMex the rights to offer Videobet's gaming applications through their
online, server-based betting terminals. The scope of EMex's reach is
significant, having a player database exceeding 180,000 registrants spanning the
4,000+ machines operated by EMex at twelve distinct brick 'n mortar gambling
destinations in Mexico.
The two companies have also agreed to collaborate
on a scheme that will bring online casino gambling and mobile phone gaming to
regulated areas in Latin America. This will be the first time EMex will offer
online gambling services, thus marking a major achievement for the Mexico-based
company as well. Both companies were very optimistic about the partnership and
released statements in a joint press release.
Playtech CEO, Avigur Zmora, said the deal is a
major step in realizing Playtech's business strategy to promote their land-based
offering of gaming applications. Furthermore, Zmora said it is a great
opportunity for casino operators to expand their own services into the world
of online casino gambling. EMex, CEO, Arturo Rojas, said he is looking forward
to offering EMex patrons the capacity to gamble with a full-suite of gaming
options, including mobile casino gambling and online gaming via home computers.
