The International Gaming Conference & Expo (IGCE)
had a successful run in 2006, hosting large conferences in both Costa Rica and
Ireland. This year, IGCE has announced they will be settling in Cancun, Mexico
on May 6-8 to bring together even more professionals working in the land based
and online casino gambling industries. The conference will be addressing issues
of change that are affecting the gaming industry now and potentially in the near
future.
Assistant Director of Conferences at IGCE, Cynthia
Pagano, said a major topic of interest at the Cancun conference will be
regarding the future of gambling in the United States. Considering the recent
crackdown by the government on the sports betting and online casino gaming
industries, yet a tolerance for online betting on horse racing and fantasy
sports leagues, there certainly are many unanswered questions in regards to what
direction international gaming companies could and should take.
In the midst of a land-based gambling industry that
continues to be fueled by state-run lotteries, Las Vegas, Atlantic City and
tribal casino gaming, the common perception is that the U.S. gambling industry
is filled with discordance and contradictions. The International Gaming
Conference & Expo is seeking to address these issues and hopefully foster some
mediation.
Anyone having a connection to the gambling industry
is encouraged to attend, including casino operators, marketing groups,
regulation bodies, gaming analysts, investors, attorney specializing in gaming
law, online casino affiliates, wireless technology companies, payment processing
companies and sportsbook operators.
The Cancun, Mexico conference will take place at
the Fiesta Americana Condesa Resort. Later conferences over the next three years
are being preeminently planned, while Prague and Bangkok are being considered as
possible host cities.
