Not only is it the first ever professional poker
tournament to be hosted in India, the Asian Poker Classic is also fast becoming
one of the largest poker tournaments in the entire Eastern circuit. The
tournament sponsors, Maharajah Club, recently announced that an additional
$250,000 has been added to the total prize pool, consequently guaranteeing more
than $1 million in total prize winnings. Director of Events at Asian Poker
Classic, Minaxshi Shah, says a large turnout of pros, celebrities and amateur
poker enthusiasts is expected.
Having the luxury of being the first ever prime
poker tournament in India, the world class Grand Resort in Goa was selected to
host the poker game events. Being one of the most beautiful resorts in the
world, tournament entrants are in for a five-star experience across the boards.
Nestled along the Arabian sea, Goa offers visitors the choice of lounging on its
sunny beaches, getting an Ayurvedic treatment at the Champneys spa or
participating in a variety of outdoor activities like windsurfing, golf, squash
and swimming at the pool.
The Asian Poker Classic should have a turnout of
approximately 150-200 players. Besides the heavy promotion at Maharajah Club,
where online casino games and sports betting can be had, the tournament is being
promoted by Bluff Europe Magazine. The highly touted poker players magazine is
giving away twelve free hotel room packages to players who sign up and mention
Bluff Europe Magazine at the time of registration. According to Bluff Europe
Magazine editor, Michael Caelli, the exact quote to use is "Bluff Europe takes
me to Goa".
For more information on the tournament, including
registration details, interested parties may go to AsianPokerClassic.com or
MaharajahClub.com, where online poker qualifying tournaments for as little as $4
can be found. Offering free practice play and real money stakes, thousands of
players are betting online here at any given time, thus making Maharaja's poker
room a good poker training and practice ground.
