The megalithic Connecticut casino resort, Mohegan
Sun, has announced they will be celebrating the Chinese New Year on Sunday,
February 25, 2007. The special event will celebrate the Chinese culture in full
swing, offering live musical entertainment by Lee-Hom Wang, as well as
traditional Lion Dances and a smorgasbord of Chinese cuisine. Being one of the
largest celebrations in the world, a Chinese New Year celebration at Mohegan Sun
Resort is certain to be an amazing night of entertainment.
A press release announcing the celebration is
circulating online, and it reports that tickets can be purchased through a third
party website. The website, however, is very disorganized and it is recommended
that parties interested in purchasing tickets go through International
Entertainment, which can be reached in New York at 718-888-3113. Ticket prices
start at $58 and go up to $138.
The Mohegan Sun Resort apparently has recognized
the ever increasing demand of Asian gamblers and is taking several steps to
better cater to the Asian gambling community. Besides celebrating the Chinese
New Year, the Mohegan tribe is developing some more permanent fixtures,
including an expansion of Asian casino game offerings in the Casino of the
Earth, which is scheduled for completion this summer.
As part of the $740 million Project Horizon, there
will be 4,000 square foot "Hong Kong" street food outlet and a 12,000 square
foot casino gambling floor offering nearly fifty table games and 160 slot
machines. All of this is in addition to the 64,000 square foot Casino of the
Wind which will be adorned with many sacred and natural elements symbolic to the
Mohegan tribe.
