An interesting study has been undertaken on the members of Intercasino.
Targeting the UK-based members of the online casino, the study purportedly asked
whether players were more inclined to gamble online or drink alcohol (or as the
survey so aptly put: booze). A UK media website picked up news of the
study and published it, which is pretty interesting to say the least.
Although there was no preference of gambling over boozing, it was surprising
to see that nearly 20% of those polled would give up drinking to be able to keep
gambling in the online casino. The most time-consuming activity that
people would be willing to forego was watching the telly, while just 9% said
they would seriously consider quitting their job if it meant they had a chance
at playing professional online poker.
Other interesting stats were that nearly 375,000 UK citizens gamble online
for over ten hours in a seven period time frame. At least ten hours per
week is very high for that many players, which only shows why online casino
gambling is a billion dollar industry and growing. In just one month
alone, over 1.5 million players log into a UK online casino. The most fun
numbers to come out of the study were that 3% of those surveyed admitted to
gambling online while at the work place, and that 15% testified to either
wearing their birthday suit or just underwear when they gamble in the online
casino.
