It remains the plan of the UK government to grant just one gambling license
to who will eventually be the owners of the one and only super casino in
England. Falling under the regulations of the UK Gambling Bill, just who
will be given the license primarily lies within the influence and power of the
Casino Advisory Panel. After their official recommendation, which is set
to come in at the end of 2006, the casino owners are expected to begin
construction on the site.
Blackpool looks to be the city of choice for all this super-sized gambling to
take place. Those who are involved in Blackpool's city planning have
expressed their excitement at being nominated for England's largest and most
comprehensive casino. The scale of the project is so huge there is no
doubt it will drastically increase the amount of tourists, which is one of the
greatest incentives for the economy of Blackpool.
The Gambling Bill, whose intention was to help relax gambling laws in the UK
and provide casino operators more incentive to set up shop in England, had
originally called for eight super casinos. Turning out to be a bit more
ambitious than planned for, steps were taken to cut the bill down in size, while
getting the Casino Advisory Panel set up in order to guide the bill into full
legislative action. Despite this cut back, the incentives for running a
casino, online and land-based, are looking quite favorable. And with only
a single super casino, many smaller casinos and gaming sites begin dotting the
UK in full force.
