Online casinos may be directing more of their
marketing efforts toward German players, now that a recent study carried out by
eMarketer has been published. What the study shows is not surprising to
many who are familiar with the economy of Germany.
Called Germany Online, the study has verified that
over 83% of German citizens between fourteen and twenty-nine years of age are
going online with computers. Even the biggest demographic of all - between
thirty and sixty years of age - are showing high numbers of internet use, with
slightly over 50% going online. Not surprising, which is the case in most
technically advanced countries - were the stats that show only 20% of citizens
over the age of sixty getting online.
James Belcher, who is eMarketer's Senior Analyst
and author of the report, says the study proves that many companies are missing
out on some excellent e-marketing opportunities. Germany consumers are
predicted to spend nearly $110 million online in 2008, which is the most
eCommerce to come out of Western Europe. In fact, Germany's economy is the
third largest in the world - close behind Japan and America.
Surprisingly so, Germany often falls under the
radar as far as its economy is concerned, which is precisely why Belcher and
eMarketer are doing all they can to draw attention to the study.
And although the study did not venture into the
realm of online gambling, it is very probable that many German's are betting in
online casino sites and sportsbooks. The twenty something's make up a
giant portion of who is gambling online, which is precisely the largest
demographic of German's going online. Not counting those under the age of
eighteen, the amount of German's going online is still likely very high.
Achtung! to you online casinos out there who are looking to spread your wings to
other markets, or even those who are looking to own your own online casino.
