Visitors to Las Vegas during the holiday season are
encouraged to pay a visit to the Bellagio Casino
Resort, where a beautiful winter theme is on display
in the hotel's Conservatory and Botanical Gardens.
Themed around the tradition of holiday harvest, the
display contains a water bog of colorful
cranberries, in the middle of which, a giant
forty-five foot Shasta Fir Christmas tree stands.
The cranberry bog is brightly illuminated, which
provides a great contrast to four gold-leafed rose topiaries (composed of over
1,000 fresh roses) and the beautiful green of the Fir tree. On the tree
are amazing silver, red and pink ornaments (some nearly twenty feet in length)
and blazing candles providing an antique look. As would be expected, the
golden star tree topper is amazing. However, the most spectacular feature
on the tree are the lights, which in true Bellagio style, dance to choreographed
music - as do the fountain waters below.
Another holiday feature nearby are a group of
robotic penguins polar bear topiaries made from thousands of hand-picked white
carnations. The entire piece ties together to truly make a spectacular
scene that should stir up Christmas feelings of yuletide joy in anyone.
Most visitors are in awe of the Ocean Spray cranberries, which total nearly half
a million and weigh over 2,000 pounds.
The exhibit will be up and running until January 4
- so if you can't make to Vegas until after Christmas, don't worry. It is
recommended you bring a camera, for you will undoubtedly want to remember this
truly impressive sight. If you have not been to Vegas around Christmas
time, it is something worth seeing. Most all of the casino resorts go all
out in their decorations and holiday theme, helping to make a festive
atmosphere.
