Ongame, the online casino software manufacturer
being bought out by Bet and Win this week, was a
very large purchase that is once again showing how
lucrative the online gambling industry can be.
Whether developing software, operating a casino, or
marketing and advertising for online casinos, there
is billions in revenue waiting to be circulated in
this booming industry. And the Ongame
founders, Oskar Hornell and Claes Lidell know this
all too well.
Bet and Win, which is
Australia's leading online betting site, is more
than packed with enough resources to buy out Ongame,
who has managed to create a rather expansive network
of online gambling sites for themselves. One
of these partnerships is with Coral Eurobet, who
incidentally, is a major competitor of Bet and Win.
Whether or not Coral decides to keep partnering with
Bet and Win (which it will if it wants to stay with
Ongame) or moves on to find other ways to compete
with large sites like Bet and Win and Party Poker,
the bottom line is that Ongame's previous owners
stand to pocket plenty of cash.
Lidell, who
individually owns 28% of the company's stock, will
be getting over 70 million in cash and over 130
million total. The Hornell's, who are a family
of three brothers and their father, own 53% of the
company stock, and will be receiving over 150
million in cash and over 250 million total.
While much of the remaining stock will be going to
former employees and current staff members, the
former chairman of Ongame, Bo Johnson, owns the
biggest chunk of shares other than the founders.
He will be receiving approximately 70 million in
cash from his 15% stake in the company.
