It's been nearly a
month since we reported on the seemingly unending drama unfolding at Donald
Trump's Atlantic City casino in which the "star" of "The Apprentice" fired his
real life CEO and VP overseeing Trump Resorts. Since that time, Trump's apparent
victims have already taken up high-profile board positions with Isle of Capri
Casinos, and more recently, a new CEO has been appointed to what could arguably
be considered the hottest seat in the executive world.
The Press of Atlantic
City reported yesterday that the acting CEO of Trump Entertainment Resorts, Mark
Juliano, has been officially appointed to the top position at Trump's fledgling
Atlantic City casino. Replacing former CEO, James B. Perry, Juliano has almost
thirty years experience in the land-based casino gambling industry, and has been
an executive with Trump Resort's ever since former CEO, Perry, spearheaded a
movement to lift the ailing casino from Chapter 11 bankruptcy back in 2005.
Juliano's past
experience includes serving as President of Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, which
is a "need I say more" in the world of casino gaming. However, despite his
impressive credits, most people would agree that Juliano has his toughest
challenge cut out for him in the coming months ahead. Considering that Trump
goes through CEO's faster than melting butter, Juliano will certainly have to
step things up if he wants to stick around.
Juliano's greatest
challenge will be in creating a catalyst that will speed up Trump Entertainment
Resort's recovery from bankruptcy. There is no doubt that it has been slower
than expected. And now that a buyout deal has been squashed (the apparent reason
for Perry's dismissal), Juliano will have to use every resource and creative
outlet possible to spark up interest in Trump's casino properties, while
Atlantic City itself loses business to the rising casino gaming industry in
nearby Pennsylvania.
