The main event of the World Series of Poker has come to a close, and of
all the online casinos and gambling sites that were sponsoring players entered
in the tournament, Bodog gets the bragging rights. Although Gold could be
considered a player with more celebrity qualities than other players (he is a
former Hollywood agent for such stars like Lucy Liu, James Gandolfini and
Felicity Huffman), he was still just one of over four-hundred Bodog Online Poker team members
competing in the main event, which has turned out to be the largest money game
in the history of organized poker tournaments.
Gold was seemingly unstoppable from the very
beginning of the tournament. During the first eight days of the two week event,
he amassed a very large chip count, while for the final four rounds spanning
eight days of practically non-stop play, he led all players in total purse,
entering the final poker table with almost $27 million. Gold's nearest
competitor had a purse almost $9 million less than Gold. It did not take
long for Gold to knock out the eight other players at the final poker table,
which included Dan Nassif and Allen Cunningham. After approximately
fourteen hours of high stakes action, Gold walked away with $12 million in his
pocket and the WSOP champion's gold bracelet.
Bodog was very excited for not only Gold, but for their own status as well,
considering the WSOP main event received plenty of televised coverage and news
covering Gold's unprecedented victory. Gold was wearing a Bodog hat, which says
it all when it comes to smart online casino and poker room branding, which Bodog
is well known for successfully doing. Bodog has Gold on a two-year promotional
contract that includes sending him to all the major poker tournaments and
creating a Jamie Gold poker table online in the Bodog casino and poker room, which
Gold will frequent and give other players a chance to have at his surmountable
bankroll...if they dare.
Gold comes from a family of poker players, and
spends much of his time in Los Angeles poker tables making a pretty good earning,
which most hard-working folks would gladly take for a year's worth of salary (He
made around $100,000 playing for fifteen months and forty hours a week). It is
probably safe to say that Gold may not be spending as much time in the poker
rooms, considering his hands are quite full collaborating with the Bodog Team,
and working on reality television projects of his own. However, as dedicated a
poker player Gold is, it would not be a surprise to see him sweeping the pots in
his old stomping grounds.
