Sands Regent Acquires Two More Nevada Gaming Properties
Casino Conditions Staff

The well known gambling operator, Sands Regent has officially purchased the Dayton Casino and Resort as well as the Red Hawk Sports Bar in Nevada.  The two properties sit across from each other in a section of Nevada that is rapidly growing, and which Sands Regent hopes to cross-market and expand in the coming years. The total purchase price was over $10 million, and included some of Sands Regent shares.  There will also be a further payment after one years time, which will be factored by how much income the two properties bring in.

Sands Regent, who owns and operates the Sands Regency Casino Resort in Reno, as well as other well known Nevada casinos, has officially bought out the Depot Casino and the Red Hawk Sports Bar - both located in the heart of Nevada.  The deal, which went for close to $11 million, will consist of an additional payment to Dayton Properties, and will be determined by the total revenue brought in by both properties for twelve months following the deal closing.

The area in which Depot Casino and Red Hawk reside is one of the most booming in Lyon County.  The growth over the last three years has risen nearly 20%, and is expected to climb even more as more homes are being built and bought up.  The two businesses sit directly across the street from one another, making up a combined property size of five acres.  Both businesses compliment each other very nicely, considering the Red Hawk has a down to earth bar and convenience store - not to mention a handful of slot machines.  As for Depot Casino, it is comprised of 16,000 sq ft, and includes a casino lobby with close to three hundred slot machines and two restaurants.

The CEO of Sands Regent, Ferenc Szony, commented the deal was indeed a strategic one in which the properties will likely be marketed together, giving Sands Regent a dominating presence in northern Nevada.  Szony said the relationship between Regent personnel and the property managers has been very conducive for future growth and continued operation.  Sands Regent is very excited to be adding these gaming related businesses to its portfolio, and in possibly expanding them to meet the growth and needs of the area.
