The National Football League is readying itself
for the 2005 season, which is already taking plenty of
bets from gamblers trying to take advantage of odds that
are starting to settle into a predicted season.
Several teams have remained near the top, although odds
have recently shifted, bumping some teams down a few
spots for the Super Bowl favorite.
Currently, the Colts are the favorite at 6 to 1, with
the Eagles and Patriots close behind in second and third
place. Online sportsbooks are beginning to post
the most current trends, which at this point, should be
settling into positions for the start of the season.
Trades and rosters are beginning to finalize, which will
undoubtedly shift the odds even more The National
Football League 2005 Season is fast approaching, and
leading online sportsbooks are posting odds on who
will win the championship title this year.
Sportsbook.com, one of the internets leading online
bookmakers, has updated their odds, which are
reflecting changes in team rosters and lineups.
Until recently, both the Eagles and Patriots were
tied as the Super Bowl favorites with 6 to 1 odds.
Now, the Colts are the favorite with 6 to 1 odds
(mainly due to their star quarterback, Peyton
Manning), and both the the Patriots and Eagles have
slipped in ranking. The Patriots are the
second favorite, now at 8 to 1 odds, while the
Eagles - largely due to the undesirable attention
that Terrell Owens keeps bringing to the team - are
posting 9:1 odds. The worst favorite team is
the San Francisco 49ers, who have posted a horrible
225:1 chance of winning the Super Bowl
Teams which are now showing up on the radar are
the Minnesota Vikings, which jumped into fourth
place with 14:1 odds after Randy Moss was traded
over to the Oakland Raiders (who, incidentally, have
now dropped to 38:1). This should not be a
direct reflection on the playing ability of Randy
Moss, who is one of the best in the league - It
simply seems that bettors do not see him as a
solitary player who can bring a mediocre team to
victory. The Miami Dolphins, on the other
hand, have drastically improved from 100:1 to 70:1
now that star running back, Ricky Williams, is
definitely going to be playing with the team this
year.
Other teams to keep an eye on, who are coming in
with good odds, are the Panthers, Ravens, Steelers
and the Falcons. All of these teams are
posting odds better than 18:1, and should be
considered as strong contenders and sound futures
bets. For the latest in NFL odds, including
ongoing changes as the season progresses, check
