Australasian Gaming Expo a Giant
Success
The Fifteenth Annual Australasian Gaming Expo was a
giant success largely due to the efforts of AGMMA, who
provided over 250 gambling machines and 225 exhibitors
from both the casino gambling and hospitality industries
around the world. There were several themes at the
gambling expo, which included outreaching to a younger
demographic of gamblers as well as building bridges with
the Australian government. Politicians, casino
operators and resort managers were some who attended. After three days of gaming
presentations and honorary speakers, the
Australasian Gaming Expo has come to a close.
And after attracting over 10,000 guests, and
displaying some 750 gambling machines and 20 casino
tables, the expo proved to be one of the most
successful in over fifteen years. Already, the
sixteenth annual convention is scheduled for
September 3, 2006.
One of the primary aims of this years expo was to develop communication and
ties with the Australian government. The relationship was rather tense
leading up to the expo, but is now on more pleasant grounds. Several
noteworthy politicians attended the Gaming Expo, including Grant McBride, who is
the New South Wales Minister for Gaming and Racing.
The Gaming Expo host was the Australasian Gaming Machine Manufacturers
Association (AGMMA), which did a fantastic job at balancing gambling related
issues with those of the hospitality and political scene. In fact, one of
the themes of the convention was that the gambling and hospitality industries
were homogeneously integrated. Besides the giant showcase of gambling
machines, there was furniture, design displays and equipment for the hospitality
industry.
The format of the presentations, which at times was interactive, fun and
inventive, and at other times more serious and informative, created a positive
energy that truly kept the undivided attention of all those who participated.
By letting the lawmakers know how important the casino gambling industry is to
the hospitality industry, AGMMA hopes to achieve more flexibility with the
government in its highly strict regulatory standards.
Casino operators and other gaming professionals gathered from all over the
world, including Ukraine, United States, France, Canada, Italy and Japan.
The event was a testament to how globalized the betting industry is, and how it
needs to work together to insure its continued growth.
