A Toronto man was the
latest online poker player to win one of Absolute Poker Room's highest profile
tournaments. Called the Absolute Dream Package promotion, the tournament awarded
$150,000 and access to over $100 million in land-based poker tournaments to the
first place finisher, who turns out, goes by the name of Daniel Boone. No, the
famous American explorer's ghost has not been spotted haunting online poker
rooms. This Daniel Boone is none other than a 31-year old father and
construction worker from Toronto.
Boone is now certainly
one of the most envied online poker players. The $100 million in land-based
poker buy-ins will entitle him to play in the largest offline poker circuits in
the world, including the largest televised poker tournament in the history of
the game. Joining Boone will be Absolute Poker's winner of the first Dream
Package tournament, Scott Carroll. Both men will be sporting Absolute Poker's
logo in the tournament, which they will be prepped for by receiving one-on-one
training from professional players.
Absolute Poker, which
uses their own proprietary software, is one of the most popular
poker rooms
on the Web today. The Absolute Dream Package promotion has been a tremendous
success, and is already on its third round. Management has already announced the
next tournament scheduled for June, 2007, which is supposedly going to be larger
than the first two. Absolute Poker Room's Senior Vice President, David Clainer,
said that in addition to the large prize pool, several unique prizes, including
a 5-star vacation package. The final event will be held on June 3, which players
can currently go online to qualify for.
