Golden Palace was their to pick up the tab...and the car. Following this high profile purchase, which took place in 2005, the online casino decided it was nigh time to sell back the old Volkswagen Golf once belonging to his holiness and give the proceeds to charity.

Having bought the modest VW at a local dealer for only sixty-five hundred pounds, the unsuspecting student hadn't the slightest inkling that his new car was of the religious-leader-previously-owned-variety. It wasn't until Halbe took a look and his new car's registration that he noticed that the now Pope was among its distinguished previous owners. After this clearly advantageous discovery, the student had no other option than to put the "pope-mobile" up for grabs on the online information highway, back in 2005.

Golden Palace quickly snapped up the vehicle for a pretty ninety thousand pounds, and unlike other past purchases for the online casino, like their accumulation of Britney Spears pregnancy test, this one they plan on using to generate profits for a good cause. They  plan on giving their €188,938 of eBay bid money to the British quadrant of Habitat for Humanity. Halbe shares his relief that the proceeds will go to a good cause after all.
