There are several
online casinos that first started off as land-based gambling companies,
including Ladbrokes,
William
Hill and Coral Eurobet. It should be no surprise that all of these
establishments are based in the UK, for this is the one place in the world where
both an online and land-based casino gambling industry is regulated by the
government. However, up until this time, there have been few online casinos
making the conversion to a brick 'n mortar betting operation.
CasinoRed, which is a
Gibraltar licensed online casino and aspiring gaming entertainment company, will
be amongst the first to do so, pending approval of the Huddersfield Town
magistrates. The company recently announced they will be putting up a £5 Million
casino at the historic Princess Cinema in Huddersfield, UK, which more recently
served as a bar and restaurant. Chief Executive of CasinoRed, Nicholas
Boyes-Hunter, said they have already hired WDL design company to draw up plans
for the new casino, which is expected to open its doors before the end of 2007.
Boyes-Hunter, who was
the former CEO of the UK casino software management group, EndX, said that
Huddersfield was strategically chosen for its "thriving social scene". Picked
from hundreds of potential candidates, Huddersfield certainly has enough
activity required to sustain a small to mid-sized casino. The Princess Cinema is
large enough to house a large offering of casino games, which will include a
dedicated poker room in the basement, blackjack and roulette tables and a large
selection of slots and fruities. Live entertainment, an 85 cover fine dining
restaurant, two bars and a VIP area will all overlook the grand floor offering
all the aforementioned casino games.
CasinoRed estimates
that approximately 120 jobs will be created and sustained through the casinos
existence. In conjunction with this foray, CasinoRed will be sponsoring the
local football club, Huddersfield Town FC. Considered to be the largest single
sponsorship package for Huddersfield Town FC, the deal will put CasinoRed's name
on the club's jersey's for the 2007/2008 season, with the option of extending
the deal for another two seasons.
