Card Player magazine is
widely considered one of the leading authority sources on anything related to
the game of poker. Publishing poker news, professional player blogs, and a
comprehensive tournament section covering everything from players to WSOP and
WPT schedules and results, Card Player's off-line and online magazine has
primarily catered to the land-based poker circuit. That is all about to change
real soon, for Card Player recently launched a new section on their website
devoted entirely to online poker content.
Card Player has issued
a press release, offering a breakdown of the new services. These include an
"Online Player of the Year" section, which like their "Player of the Year" for
the land-based poker circuit, will rank the best tournament finishers in the
internet poker community. Players participating at the biggest online poker
rooms, such as Poker Stars, Full Tilt, Bodog and Ultimate Bet, will be awarded
points based on their tournament performance. Points will then be used to rank
players toward the top honor of being named Player of the Year.
In addition to player
rankings, Card Player will have a section devoted entirely to publishing
detailed tournament results, including stats on active players - unknowns and
pros alike. Upcoming tournaments will also be listed in a comprehensive listing
that will allow players to filter tournament listings with several variables
like the type of game, buy-in, tournament type, start time and online poker
room.
In addition to Card
Player's normal resource of poker news, tips, playing strategy and game rules,
the website now features reviews of online poker rooms that players themselves
can contribute their two cents to via a user rating mechanism on the reviews
page. There is also a Poker Beat section, which is devoted entirely to
happenings taking place within the online poker gambling industry.
